Kur ai u afrua dhe dha selam, Pejgamberi (s.a.v.s.) i tha: "Pasha Allahun! —dhe përmendi një fjalë që mendoj se ishte— a i the vetes sate se ti je më i miri i këtij populli?" Ai u përgjigj: "Po." Pasi ai u largua, i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) tha: "Vërtet do të shfaqen —mendoj se tha— njerëzit e këtij burri, dhe shokët e tij do të jenë prej tyre." Ebu Bekri tha: "A ta vras atë, o i Dërguari i Allahut?" Omeri tha: "A ta vras atë?" Atëherë Aliu tha: "A ta vras unë, o i Dërguari i Allahut?" Ai u përgjigj: "Po, ti do ta vrasësh atë nëse e gjen." Aliu shkoi, por nuk e gjeti më.
1851 - Ibrahim ibn Abd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Kufi narrated to us, Abd al-Rahman ibn Sharik narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Sufyan, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: We were with the Prophet (pbuh) until a man of good demeanor approached. They mentioned something good regarding his character, so the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "Indeed, I see upon his face a dark mark from the Fire." When he arrived and offered the greeting of peace, the Prophet (pbuh) said: "By Allah—whereupon he mentioned a word, I think he said—did you say to yourself that you see yourself as better than these people?" He said: "Yes." When he left, the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "There has emerged—I think he said—the people of this man and his companions are of them." Abu Bakr said: "Should I not kill him, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes." So Abu Bakr went and found him in the mosque praying, and he returned to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and said: "I found him praying, so I could not bring myself to kill him." Umar said: "Should I not kill him?" He said: "Yes." So Umar went and found him in the mosque praying while bowing, and he returned to the Prophet (pbuh) and said: "I found him praying, so I could not bring myself to kill him." Then Ali said: "Should I not kill him, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Yes, you shall kill him if you find him." So Ali went, but he did not find him.
