Transmeton Ibn Abbasi: Fisi Banu Sa'd bin Bekr dërguan Dimam bin Tha'laben te i Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.). Ai erdhi, e lidhi devenë e tij te dera e xhamisë dhe hyri brenda. I Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) ishte i ulur me shokët e tij. I Dërguari i Allahut (s.a.v.s.) tha: "Unë jam biri i Abdul-Mutalibit." Ai tha: "Muhamedi?" Tha: "Po." Ata i thanë: "Kujdes o Dimam! Ruaju nga lepra, ruaju nga marrëzia, ruaju nga sëmundjet!" Ai u tha: "Mjerë për ju! Pasha Allahun, ata as nuk dëmtojnë e as nuk bëjnë dobi.

Muhammad ibn Humayd informed us, Salamah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to me, Salamah ibn Kuhayl and Muhammad ibn al-Walid ibn Nuwayfi' narrated to me, from Kurayb the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: The tribe of Banu Sa'd ibn Bakr sent Dimam ibn Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh). He arrived and knelt his camel at the gate of the mosque, then tethered it. He then entered the mosque while the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) was sitting among his companions. Dimam was a strong, hairy man with two braids. He approached until he stood before the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and said, "Which of you is the son of 'Abd al-Muttalib?" The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, "I am the son of 'Abd al-Muttalib." He asked, "Muhammad?" He replied, "Yes." He said, "O son of 'Abd al-Muttalib, I am going to question you and be stern in my questioning, so do not find any grievance within yourself." He replied, "I shall not find any grievance; ask whatever comes to your mind." He said, "I adjure you by Allah, your God, the God of those who were before you, and the God of those who will be after you: Did Allah send you as a Messenger to us?" He replied, "O Allah, yes." He said, "Then I adjure you by Allah, your God, the God of those who were before you, and the God of those who will be after you: Did Allah command you that we should worship Him alone, not associating anything with Him, and that we should cast off these rivals which our fathers used to worship besides Him?" He replied, "O Allah, yes." He said, "Then I adjure you by Allah, your God, the God of those who were before you, and the God of those who will be after you: Did Allah command you that we should perform these five prayers?" He replied, "O Allah, yes." Then he began to mention the obligatory duties of Islam one by one—the Zakat, fasting, the Hajj, and all the laws of Islam—adjuring him at every obligation just as he had adjured him for the previous ones. When he had finished, he said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. I shall fulfill these obligations and avoid what you have forbidden me." Then he said, "I shall neither add to them nor subtract from them." Then he turned back toward his camel, and the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said as he turned away, "If the one with the two braids has spoken the truth, he shall enter Paradise." He went to his camel, untied its tether, and departed until he reached his people. When they gathered around him, the first thing he said was, "How evil are al-Lat and al-'Uzza!" They said, "Hush, O Dimam! Beware of leprosy, beware of madness, and beware of elephantiasis!" He replied, "Woe to you! By Allah, they can neither harm nor benefit. Allah has indeed sent a Messenger and revealed a Book to him, by which He has rescued you from the state you were in. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. I have brought to you from him that which he has commanded you and that which he has forbidden you." He (the narrator) said: By Allah, by the time evening came on that day, there was not a single man or woman in his settlement who was not a Muslim. Ibn 'Abbas said: "We have never heard of a delegate of a people who was more excellent than Dimam ibn Tha'labah."
