1981 - Muhammad bin Ali al-Ahwazi narrated to us, [saying] Amr bin Khalid narrated to us, [saying] Ibn Lahi’ah narrated to us, from Uqayl, that he heard Ibn Shihab informing from Anas bin Malik (h). And Zuhayr bin Muhammad narrated it to us, [saying] Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, [saying] Ma’mar informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Anas—and the wording is the wording of Uqayl, from al-Zuhri, from Anas—that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said one day to his companions: "A man from the people of Paradise shall enter from here." Ma’mar said in his narration: "His beard was dripping from the water of an ablution he had performed, and he was hanging his sandals [in his hand]." Then Sa’d entered. He [the Prophet] said that twice, and on each occasion, it was Sa’d who entered. When Abdullah bin Amr heard that, he departed with him one night and said: "O uncle, there was some dispute between me and Amr, and I wished to spend the night with you." He replied: "Yes, O nephew." So Abdullah stayed the night with him, and Sa’d spent the night sleeping; however, whenever he stirred during the night, he remembered Allah. When morning came, he stood, performed ablution, and prayed two rak’ahs, then went out to the prayer. He did this for three nights, adding nothing more to that. On the morning of the third day, Abdullah said to him: "By Allah, there was nothing between me and Amr except good, but I heard the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) say regarding you: 'A man from the people of Paradise shall enter,' so I wished to know what your deed was." Sa’d said to him: "It is nothing more than what you have seen, O nephew, except that I do not spend the night holding a grudge against any Muslim," or a word similar to it.
